Two- day Workshop on “Finite Fields and Galois Theory”

The National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), in cooperation with HRI, Allahabad, is going to organize a two-day workshop on “Finite Fields and Galois Theory” to celebrate the National Mathematics Day of 2018.. The workshop will be held during Dec 22-23, 2018 at the headquarters of NASI. It will be meant for B.Sc./B.Tech. (final year)/M.Sc. (Maths)/research students of the universities of India who are interested in learning the above topics.

Topics of the Workshop: Finite fields, Polynomials and their irreducibility, Splitting fields, Construction by ruler and compass, Galois Theory, solvability by radicals etc.

Resource Persons:

Satya Deo, FNASc (HRI, Allahabad), S.S.Khare, FNASc (NEHU, Shillong), Ramji Lal (HRI, Allahabad), H. K. Mukherjee (NEHU, Shillong), V. Pati (ISI, Bangalore). The workshop will include lectures as well as interactions with the participants.

FACILITIES: No entry fee; and free lodging & boarding to the bonafide participants. AC III train fare to the participants (to & fro from their address to NASI & BACK) on showing the tickets.
